GLP-1 Therapy
GLP-1 Medications (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists)
GLP-1 medications are a class of treatments originally developed for type 2 diabetes that are now also widely used for weight management. They mimic the body’s natural GLP-1 hormone to improve blood sugar control, slow digestion, and reduce appetite — resulting in both improved metabolic health and sustainable weight loss.
Commonly prescribed options include semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®), liraglutide (Saxenda®, Victoza®), dulaglutide (Trulicity®), and tirzepatide (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®).
While effective for many, GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for everyone. They are typically avoided in individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2), certain severe gastrointestinal conditions, or a history of serious pancreatitis. Suitability is determined through a careful medical evaluation to ensure safety and effectiveness.
These examples are provided for educational context to help patients understand the GLP-1 medication class and do not imply that specific brand name products are offered.

Prescription Options
At Sageview Medical, prescriptions are written based on individualized medical evaluation and clinical judgment. Medications are not dispensed directly by our practice and are billed separately by external pharmacies.
Some FDA-approved medications may be eligible for manufacturer-sponsored direct pharmacy programs depending on insurance coverage and individual eligibility. These programs often involve a monthly program fee charged by the dispensing pharmacy or manufacturer, separate from Sageview Medical’s medical services and not inclusive of medication costs.
For patients without insurance coverage, compounded medications prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies may be considered when clinically appropriate. All options are discussed during the medical visit so patients can make informed decisions regarding safety, cost, and suitability.

In some cases, targeted supplementation may be recommended to support metabolic health, nutritional status, or overall wellness. Supplement recommendations are individualized and based on medical evaluation rather than preselected protocols.
Why supplements may be recommended:
Support energy production and metabolism
Boost immune system strength
Improve skin, hair, and nail health
Aid in muscle recovery and overall performance
Address deficiencies from diet, lifestyle, or medical conditions
For patient convenience, recommended supplements may be accessed through a trusted third party dispensary when available. Use of any supplement is optional and reviewed as part of ongoing care.
